Here's the process. Follow it every time.
Step 1: Read the entire problem twice
Don't grab numbers on the first read. Get the full picture first.
Step 2: Identify what the question wants
Are you finding P(A), P(A and B), P(A or B), or P(A|B)? Write the formula before you plug anything in.
Step 3: List your favorable outcomes and total outcomes
Separate these clearly. Many students mix them up.
Step 4: Plug in and simplify
Reduce fractions. Convert to decimals or percentages if needed.
Step 5: Check your work
